Don't put your umbrellas away just yet as rain has been forecast for the coming days.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology, there will be showers of varying intensities, accompanied by thunder and lightning.

It has also warned of strong winds and blowing dust that could affect visibility in some areas.

Motorists are urged to take extra caution and to drive at a speed that is appropriate for the conditions.

The run of unsettled weather is expected from Wednesday through to Friday.

Meanwhile, some schools have decided to close on Wednesday as a precautionary measure, while many have cancelled outdoor and after-school activities.

Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has not issued an official directive for schools to close, but in a Tweet it indicated that it's best for parents to double-check with the schools.

Heavy rains lashed the UAE last week, causing major issues on the roads and flooding in parts of the country.
