Two young men had a narrow escape after their car fell into the water from the dockside in Dubai's Al Jaddaf area.

According to Dubai Police, the vehicle veered off the edge, hit a parked yacht, flipped over and landed on the seabed.

The two men who were inside the car managed to exit after its windshield shattered from the collision with the yacht.

Both individuals were confirmed to be safe, with no other occupants in the vehicle. The sedan was later retrieved from the water by divers from the ports police station.

"At 2:20 PM, the Command and Control Centre received a report of the accident. Marine rescue teams, maritime security units, and local patrols were quickly dispatched to the scene," said Colonel Ali Abdullah Al Naqbi, Deputy Director of the Ports Police Station.

Captain Abdul Rahman Bourguiba, Head of the Marine Rescue Division, added that divers assessed the car’s position on the seabed and secured it with ropes. The vehicle was then lifted and placed back on the dockside.

Captain Bourguiba emphasized the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and adherence to traffic laws. He urged drivers to be cautious and follow safety measures to avoid such incidents.

For emergencies, the public is advised to contact the Command and Control Centre at 999, and for non-emergencies at 901.

Marine users are also encouraged to use the 'Sail Safely' service for reporting marine incidents and sharing locations promptly.
