More than 12,000 volunteers have helped distribute around 500,000 free meals in Dubai’s densely populated areas.
People of 40 different nationalities worked in partnership with government teams to hand out the food kits.
It’s part of the ‘Your City Needs You’ initiative, which reaches out to the most vulnerable members of the community.
The volunteers had signed up through the ‘Day for Dubai’ app launched by Dubai's Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in March.
The latest campaign covered districts like Al Ras, Naif, Al Raffa, Karama, Al Mankhool, Satwa and Oud Metha.
It's being implemented in close collaboration with Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, which recently launched the Community Solidarity Fund Against COVID-19.
The Fund enables individuals and organisations to channel their contributions in the right direction in order to support the most vulnerable people.
