UAE tops five global Environmental Performance Index indicators

The UAE has ranked first globally in five environmental performance indicators and first in the region, the Arab world, and the GCC in the 2024 Environmental Performance Index issued by Yale and Columbia Universities.

Announcing the achievements via platform X, the UAE's Ministry of Climate Change and Environment said: "The UAE ranked first globally in five environmental performance indicators, namely: Marine Protection Stringency, Bottom Trawling in EEZ, Wastewater treated, Wastewater reused, and Net carbon fluxes due to land cover change, continuing the UAE's journey environmental sustainability.

"The Environmental Performance Index is a globally competitive index that assesses the current state of environmental sustainability of countries around the world," the Ministry added.
