UAE summons Lebanese envoy to protest minister's statements

ANWAR AMRO / AFP

The UAE has denounced the statement made by Lebanese Minister of Information George Kordahi against the Arab coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen.

According to a WAM report, the Lebanese Minister disseminated “biased” and “disrespectful” comments about the situation in Yemen "which insulted the Coalition’s member countries."

In response, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation summoned the Lebanese Ambassador to the UAE and informed him of its "indignation and denunciation of such belligerent statements that contravene diplomatic norms and the history of Lebanon's relations with the Coalition countries".

It added that the statements also show the "growing distance Lebanon is taking from its Arab brethren".
