The UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) held a press conference to outline its plans for 2025.
This includes marking it's 10th anniversary in January, hosting the 7th International Rain Enhancement Forum (IREF), and launching its sixth global grant cycle.
The program, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will offer up to $1.5 million per project for innovative rain enhancement research, focusing on areas such as cloud seeding materials, AI for weather modification, and autonomous UAVs.
Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous, Director General of the National Center of Meteorology, emphasised the UAE’s commitment to global water security, stating that advanced technologies, data-driven approaches, and AI are key to tackling water scarcity challenges.
The IREF will provide a platform for global experts to discuss innovations in rain enhancement, AI integration, and solutions to water scarcity.
Alya Al Mazroui, Director of the UAEREP, highlighted the program's unique support for transitioning research into practical applications, helping projects align with the UAE’s environmental needs.
The program has also been active in global engagements, including participating in key international conferences and research events.
