The UAE ordered a relief package worth a total of $100 million (AED 367 million) to Lebanon last week. Six planes loaded with around 250 tonnes of medical supplies, food, relief materials, and shelter equipment were sent on Sunday.

Under the initiative, the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council announced a philanthropic campaign that is set to involving the community, including institutions and businesses, in the UAE’s efforts to extend a hand of support to Lebanon, between October 8 and 21.

Lebanon has been under intensified Israeli bombardment and a ground incursion in the south for two weeks. Around 5,000 airstrikes have been conducted around the country, according to the Israeli military.

More than 300,000 Lebanese people have crossed into Syria in the last weeks. At least 1,400 people have been killed, including women and children, and more than 1.5 million others have been displaced.

Also on Monday the UAE President ordered the dispatch of six additional flights delivering humanitarian aid to the people of Lebanon, in addition to the $100 million aid package sent over the weekend, which was six planes loaded with around 205 tonnes of medical supplies, food, relief materials, and shelter equipment, part of the newly launched "UAE stands with Lebanon" campaign.
