UAE joins BRICS counterparts to address global health challenges

The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Health and Prevention, participated in the BRICS health ministers meeting held in Moscow, which focused on strategies to accelerate sustainable development and achieve health and well-being for all by 2030.

The Emirati delegation joined their BRICS counterparts to address pressing global health challenges and explore opportunities for deeper international cooperation in healthcare.

Key topics of discussion included promoting universal health coverage, enhancing global health infrastructure, and advancing the UAE’s vision of building cooperative partnerships for a healthier future.

Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, UAE Minister of Health and Prevention, emphasised the importance of knowledge exchange and collaboration among BRICS countries to build resilient health systems.

He said that the UAE is committed to strengthening partnerships to meet shared goals, such as establishing unified health standards and improving healthcare quality.

The UAE also highlighted the need for cooperation on issues like antimicrobial resistance, tuberculosis, and vaccine research, aiming for equitable access to health services.

As the sessions wrapped up, the UAE delegation reaffirmed its commitment to deepening cooperation with BRICS nations to create a more innovative and adaptable global health system, contributing to Sustainable Development Goals and improving health worldwide.
