UAE confirms first case of new COVID variant

The Ministry of Health and Prevention has confirmed the first case of Omicron in the UAE.

The new COVID-19 variant was detected in an African woman who arrived from an African nation after passing through an Arab country.

The ministry said the infected person and her close contacts have been isolated.

It also added that the woman did not show any symptoms and she had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, as per the approved national protocol.
