Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the closure of three Metro stations as part of precautionary measures taken to fight the novel coronavirus.

In a Tweet, the authority said Al Ras, Palm Deira and Baniyas Square will be closed for two weeks, starting Tuesday, March 31.

They explained that the closures were being taken "in line with precautionary measures to ensure the highest levels of health and safety".

It comes as additional restrictions are in place on the movement of people and traffic in Dubai’s Al Ras area over the next two weeks to help with the national disinfection programme.
