The Roads and Transport Authority has completed the development of Al Jamayel Street, a key corridor linking Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

The project included the construction of four bridges totaling 2,874 meters, capable of handling 17,600 vehicles per hour, alongside extensive roadworks covering seven kilometers aimed at easing traffic congestion and boosting connectivity in the region.

HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of RTA, highlighted that the development will significantly improve traffic flow between major roads, such as Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

"The improvements contribute to reducing travel times—commuting from Al Jamayel Street to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in the direction of Al Qusais and Deira is now 40% faster, cutting down from 20 minutes to 12 minutes during peak hours," said Al Tayer.

The newly expanded Al Jamayel Street now serves residential and development areas including Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Al Furjan, and Dubai Production City, benefiting around 250,000 people.

The project also integrates road lighting, traffic systems, rainwater drainage, and irrigation networks, enhancing both the infrastructure and the daily commute for residents.

Among the four bridges, the largest span—943 meters long—was recently opened, with a capacity to handle 8,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, directly linking Al Jamayel Street to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

The overall development supports a broader RTA initiative to modernise road networks across Dubai, ensuring smoother transit for both current and future traffic demands.

The project is seen as a crucial part of Dubai’s infrastructure plan, which has also included improvements to neighboring arteries like Al Yalayes Street and Expo Street, further enhancing the city’s transportation system.
