No voters IDs for Filipino expats in the UAE

Expats from the Philippines will not receive new voters IDs, according to an advisory issued by the Philippines Consulate General in Dubai.

This comes after the Philippine House of Representatives approved a bill that establishes a national identification system.

The production and distribution of voters IDs has been suspended due to the bill which proposes only one ID for all government transactions.

Registered overseas voters in the UAE are advised to use their Emirates IDs or passports instead for the upcoming general election.
