Man arrested in Sharjah for mocking COVID-19 efforts

A man who posted a video on social media ridiculing the UAE's National Sterilisation Programme has been arrested in Sharjah.

According to the Sharjah Police, the man mocked the sterilisation teams working in the emirate, as well as its residents.

Authorities warned they will not tolerate any actions that seek to obstruct the procedures and measures taken to protect the society, or diminish the work of the people who are carrying it out. 

The alleged offender will be referred to Public Prosecution for legal action against him.

Police added that they will take all available legal action against anyone who publishes any offensive material through social media or any other means.
