A new YouGov survey shows that 40 per cent of UAE residents are currently looking to lose weight as part of their goal for 2019.

It also found that just under a third of the residents are happy with their current weight, whilst almost 15 per cent want to bulk up.

Forty-three per cent have combined diet and exercise to achieve their weight goals, with a fifth of the population just changing their eating habits, and a quarter only focusing on exercise.

Meanwhile, men and women differed in what they are hoping to achieve and how they achieve it. While men prefer working out more, women favoured a diet plan. In fact, the survey showed that women (59 per cent) are notably more likely than men (42 per cent) to be prioritising losing weight.
