Bruno Le Maire, the French Minister of Economy and Finance said in a statement that "the UAE can count on the full support of France," after discussions about a future of clean energy.

Le Maire added that he would like to see more French companies work with the UAE to achieve its sustainable goals.

This came after a meeting with His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

In terms of bilaterally advancing clean energy, the minister conveyed France’s interest in increasing cooperation in using and developing hydrogen as an energy source.

“We have the technologies, we have the determination – let’s work together. I really think that this cooperation between our two countries on sustainable development will be very fruitful for us both,” said the French minister.

Lastly, the French minister congratulated the UAE on winning the bid to host COP28 in 2023, adding that it is a “clear recognition of the UAE’s commitment… in the fight against climate change.”
