The Emirates Red Crescent has launched an initiative to extend support to orphans in the country. The programme will care for 100 orphans and 20 sponsor families, in line with the UAE’s humanitarian goals. The first phase, to be implemented in the last quarter of 2015, will involve donating cash and essential items to families, as well as holding art workshops for the children. The second phase, which starts in early 2016, will see orphans receiving educational support. Currently the ERC supports more than 2,000 orphans and people with special needs in the Emirates.
