Counterfeit goods worth over AED 9.3 billion have been seized by Dubai Police over the past five years.
As many 2,235 economic crimes were recorded in total during this period, with the cases related to commercial fraud, counterfeiting, scams, sorcery and forgery.
Meanwhile, this year, the Anti-Economic Crime Department has recorded 315 such cases, involving 394 accused.
Items worth over AED 1.73 billion were also seized.
Brigadier Jamal Salem Al Jallaf, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigations, said Dubai Police works closely with other government entities, trademark owners and company representatives to prevent the sale of fake goods.
