Abu Dhabi's public transport options will be overhauled in the New Year with a range of improvements to bus services by the Integrated Transport Centre.
The network upgrades include more frequent buses serving a wider range of destinations.
60 additional daily bus trips have been scheduled during weekdays to a total of 4,755 per day.
The ITC also said the schedule would be revised to suit the new working week that has been adopted in the UAE.
The new additions serve to meet the needs of the ITC’s bus users in various regions, enhance the connection of the public bus network in Abu Dhabi, and make the use of public transport buses in the city and its suburbs more efficient, easy and comfortable.
Additionally, the number of trips on Friday will also be increased by an additional 753 trips. This increase will bring the average trips number to 4,775 per day.
The ITC has also unified public buses’ work schedules to ensure coordinated operations throughout the entire week, including weekends.
The no. 8 service that departs from Zayed Port to Al Bateen in Abu Dhabi city, will be extended to service the Al Bateen Marina to increase coverage.
Improvements in Baniyas and Al Shahama will boost service frequency, ensure convenience and provide a wider geographical coverage to match the population growth.
Upgrades to bus services in Musaffah will include its western port area as well as changing the bus service no. 103 so that there is a direct link between Mohammed bin Zayed City and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street.
