One person has been killed and seven others injured after a violent altercation escalated into gunfire outside a fast-food joint in Seattle on Thursday.

It's still unclear what triggered the clash and how many people were involved in the incident.

According to the Seattle Police Chief, there were "multiple people involved as shooters" and efforts are on to nab them.

"We've locked down the scene. We have no active shooting at this point ... so everything is safe for the night," Carmen Best told reporters at a briefing near the crime scene.
