At least 16 Palestinians have been killed during an Israeli airstrike targeting Al-Yemen Al-Saeed Hospital in Jabalia refugee camp, northern Gaza, on Wednesday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Paramedics said the dead included women and children, noting that the bombardment left “charred remains of the deceased Palestinians.”

A second Israeli airstrike outside the entrance of the hospital killed several more Palestinians, the Gaza Civil Defense reported.

The Israeli army also attacked a group of journalists in Jabalia, killing one and critically wounding a camera operator in the neck.

The Jabalial Refugee Camp has been under siege for four days, as of Thursday, preventing the entry of food and other essential supplies.

"The 162nd Division has begun military operations to thwart terrorism in the Jabalia area: Forces have completed the encirclement of the area," Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee said on Sunday.

He added "assessment of the situation and the forces’ actions on the ground... indicated the presence of terrorists and terrorist structures in the area, in addition to attempts to restore terrorist structures by Hamas."

The Gaza Media Office said civilians are being targeted in northern Gaza, including the Jabalia refugee camp.

The Gaza Health Ministry said on Wednesday that at least 42,010 people have been killed and 97,720 others have been injured.
