Dubai aims to welcome tourists again in July

Dubai is aiming to reopen its doors to tourists in July, according to Helal Al Marri, director general of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce (Dubai Tourism).

Al Marri said in an interview with Bloomberg that Emirates were taking bookings from the beginning of July, and that Dubai Tourism were working to support the airline on the reopening.

But he also said that it all depended on whether the rest of the world would reopen by then, adding that a big factor would be the bilateral discussions currently under way to have a coordinated approach to the reopening.

He added that Dubai Tourism was working with the public and private sectors to ensure that all aspects of the city would be fully aligned and ready to receive tourists when possible.

Al Marri also underlined the city’s ability to react to market changes, and said that there was a need to ‘get it right’ before welcoming visitors again.
