Top cop calls for stricter drug laws in UAE
The Deputy Chief of Dubai Police wants stricter anti-narcotic laws to be introduced in the country.
According to the national news agency WAM, Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim said the legislation should be designed to deter drug smugglers and users, and discourage those who aim to destabilise the nation by reading banned substances.
Lt. General Tamim made the statement while chairing the meeting of the Anti-Narcotics Council, which was held at the Dubai Police Officers Club.
Representatives of the judicial authority, courts and public prosecution, as well as officials from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Climate Change and Environment were also present at the gathering.
