Every week I’ll be posting my album of the week right here, plus what music events are happening around town, and therefore which ones you should be going to too!
So as, promised;

Album Of The Week – Super Furry Animals, Dark Days, Light Years. Hitting the IV stage this Saturday as part of the awesome Dubai Sound City line-up.
Book Of The Week – Twilight Vampire romance series. Gearing us up for the release of the second film in the series “New Moon” set to hit screens November 20.

Movie Of The Week – The Informant. Went to see this last week, it is amazing! Definitely a must-see.

Every Sunday you should check out Movies under the stars down at Wafi. You get to chill out on massive bean bags and do what it says on the tin. Watch movies, for free, under the stars.
“This Is It” has opened at the cinema. The film features all the footage from Michael Jackson’s final tour. It’s only running for 2 weeks world wide… and I’ve booked seats on Nov. 3rd. Catboy and Geordie Bird went to the premiere and haven’t stopped praising it. I think it’s the kind of thing you’ll want to watch twice.
The other is Navi on November 5 down at the Media City Amphitheatre. He is the world’s number 1 Michael Jackson impersonator and worked for Michael Jackson for years as a decoy… and also performed at Michael’s birthday and has been in the business for 20 years and is officially the next best thing to watching the legend himself. Seeing as I always wanted to go and watch him play live and didn’t get to do that… I’ve made sure to go to Navi’s gig on the 5th.
…this however means missing the two headlining gigs at Dubai Sound City which starts on the 5th. I will be there during the day and for the rest of the weekend… basically camped outside the Irish Village. 78 bands coming to town for 3 days in 7 venues… easily the HOTTEST EVENT OF THE YEAR.
Also, on a non-music front… there is a cool play at the Madinat Jumeira this week. At the first group theatre they are showing The Abridged Works of William Shakespeare. I’ve seen it before and it is laugh out loud hilarious. 37 Shakespeare plays performed in 97 minutes, with Hamlet performed backwards in 30 seconds. Hilarious I tell you!
