Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque welcomes over 257,000 worshippers
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque welcomed over quarter of a million worshippers and fasting Muslims during the first week of the holy month of Ramadan.
The “Clouds of Giving” food programme, a directive of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the ‘Year of Giving’ 2017, saw over 257,000 people visit the Mosque.
A taskforce of more than 550 volunteers from 20 public and private bodies are implementing and supervising the Ramadan programmes and set-up 12 fully equipped and air-conditioned tents to receive visitors.
Iftar meals were distributed to those fasting in collaboration with the Armed Forces Officers’ Club in Abu Dhabi.
The Centre also provided e-vehicles to facilitate the movement of elderly people, families and people with special needs.
