Sheikh Mohammed approves AED 26.4 billion DEWA budget
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved Dubai Electricity & Water Authority’s (DEWA) budget of AED 26.4 billion for 2018, which is an increase of more than AED 2 billion from 2017.
The budget places emphasis on conventional and non-conventional energy sources as well as advanced technologies to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global model for green economy.
Over AED 2.68 billion have been set aside for electricity and water generation, more than AED 5 billion for power transmission, AED 1.74 billion for power distribution and AED 519 million for water transmission and distribution projects.
To increase DEWA’s water storage capacity, AED165 million has been allocated for constructing a reservoir in Hatta and upgrading pumping stations at Jebel Ali–Habab and Khawaneej.
