‘Sesame Street’ to welcome muppet with autism

In a bid to teach children about autism, ‘Sesame Street’ is all set to welcome a new muppet with the condition.

Julia, the little girl with orange hair, a toy rabbit and autism, will make her ‘Sesame Street TV’ debut in April.

The show’s creators say they carried out a lot of research with child psychologists to understand how to normalise autism for children.

Julia’s puppeteer, Stacey Gordon, who happens to be mother of an autistic son, says, “It’s important for kids without autism to see what autism can look like.”
