Morning. Into the 2nd week of Tom & Dan at Breakfast. Still enjoying. CB & GB back on Sunday. Got home yesterday and was very much looking forward to a nap. It was around 3 in the afternoon, and I had planned a nice nap. Then a run with Dan, before dinner and TV. That was all thrown into doubt though when, as I got home I parked the car and made a phone call. I turned the engine off so I could hear a little better. After the call, I locked the car door, by pressing the button in, before jumping out and shutting the door behind me. Now, imagine you are watching a film, this bit is in slow motion. I turn around as the door hurtles towards the car, I suddenly realise I have locked the door, but have left the keys in the ignition. Before I could stop it, bang! The door is shut, as is the boot and passenger door. I for the first time ever, am locked out of my own car. I don’t have a spare key. I walked into my flat, and I grabbed a coat hanger, actually believing I could break into my own car! The only experience of this I have is seeing people do it in the movies. After an hour of aimlessly poking a coat hanger wire in roughly the direction of the lock I gave up. Eventually, the nice people at Off Road Zone drop down to my place with a key. Which worked much better than a coat hanger wire.

My debit card has finally stopped working. I say finally, but its life hasn’t really been that long. A year in fact. Which if you keep in mind the card expires after 3 years, it has failed to reach its goal by quite some distance. I could see it coming. It started months ago, in Geant at Ibn Batutta. I had done a shop, and was happily waiting at a check out ready to be served. Once I (note, ‘I’) had packed my bags up, I handed over my card to pay. The card didn’t work in the machine so was forced to head off to a cash point, much to the anger of the people behind me. I should have begun the process of getting a new one then, but you know how it is. You know it is going to be a hassle so you put it off. In the last few weeks though, my debit card has led a slow death. Emergency services were put on stand by when the card was unreadable in an ATM machine. It battled on, but soon, it worked in fewer and fewer machine’s. Even failing to be recognised by its own bank. This is the point we had to take it in and sadly my debit card was no more. Not before an argument with the bank however about how my signature on my card was apparently ‘completely different’ to the one on the bank system.
Welcome by the way, to the brand new dubai92.com website! Have fun looking around.

Really enjoying being on Breakfast with Dan. Almost done for the first week. This is the first time we have been on a Breakfast show together, and only a few weeks since we started a show together so thank you for the nice messages! Getting up at 4am is an interesting thing. The actual waking up is a killer. But once I am in the car and awake I feel OK. Until the sudden drop at around 11am. Odd to think I am getting up as people back home are going to bed too. Funny old thing, time difference, isn’t it? Not really, no. Oh and by the way. I have just realised this week is my one year anniversary on writing these blogs. November 9th 2008 I started. And pretty much every day I have written something since then. OK, some days, its just waffle and probably not much meaning to you, but nice to read back on. The word document that all my blogs are kept on is now up to page 73.
