Nearly 3,000 drivers arrested for driving at 200kph
Almost 3,000 motorists have been arrested in Abu Dhabi over the last five months for dangerous driving.
The emirate’s police force says that smart systems, snipers and radars caught the drivers going at speeds of 200kph.
Officials say that driving at such speeds can cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle and lower their ability to react to emergencies or objects on the road.
Exceeding the speed limit by more than 80kph can lead to a fine of AED 3,000, 23 black points, and the confiscation of the vehicle for 60 days.
