Hello! So, 4 weeks of filling in for Catboy & Geordiebird and we don’t know where the last month has gone. It was our last show this morning before heading back to a later start! CB & GB back at 6am on Sunday!

This morning was quite superb. It started the usual way. 6am arrived and Dan belted out his famous ‘good morningggggggg’ and off we went. We told you more about Challenge Tom & Dan in Thailand, keep listerning for more details, and definitely have us on on Sunday at 4 (covering for the i-Rod) to see how you can be coming with us!

We noticed that it looked like various chefs were wondering around the building, and burgers started to arrive and then Helen from What’s On arrived to explain all! We were to have a massive burger tasting session for an hour from 9am! Quite a change from the normal Banana had in the morning. It was such a fun morning eating burgers from the likes of Fatburger, Jollibee, Epicure at Desert Palm, Nezzesaussi, McDonalds, Roundtable  and also what has to be the most expensive burger in Dubai, from the Burj Al Arab.

We gave every burger a high score and we were very overwhelmed by the presents given to us both from Sally at Media One and the guys at What’s On!

Here we are in burger heaven!  The one in the second picture below is the Burj Al Arab burger… it comes in it’s own special box and has gold foil. Ooer!

Our Costa ‘Friends of the Week’ came in at 7. They were Mary and Marina. Sisters from Deira. A fun hour was had with them, and we decided to play ‘Mary or Marina’ instead of ‘Tom or Dan’. We found out Mary was the older sister.

And here’s our friend, Sally from MEDIA ONE HOTEL, she wrote us a poem and brought food and presents. Yeah!

WEDNESDAY, 4th August 2010

First of all….Diane, thank you for this cake! That’s what we call a healthy breakfast!

So, our penultimate show on Breakfast. Of course it was a busy one. Dan early on in the show mentioned the word ‘Thailand’! Woah! What does this mean? Well, you can find out more on Sunday, just have Dubai 92 on. That is all we can say.

We received important Paul McCartney/Glee news in the showbiz wrap live from London with Geraldine and we relived the Jason Donavon concert that Tom attended years and years ago.

Tomorrow is our last show in the morning before Catboy and Geordiebird get back on Sunday. So we are planning a party. Our Friends of the Week will be in with Costa, as will the What’s On guys. And we will want to know from you what your Dubai weekend plans are.

Today we gave away more places on Tom & Dan’s BIG BIKE BASH and Kidzania tickets. We ‘discussed’ Justin Bieber’s first autobiography on Topical Tune of the Day.

And we learned that Dan has 6 brothers and 1 sister in TOM OR DAN. That’s a lot, Dan!!!!

Tom underwent very unexpected, unfortunate and painful nose-hair waxing yesterday so we offered him some sympathy (but suggested he went back to get his ears done).

And that was a about it! Join us tomorrow for more.

MONDAY, 2nd August 2010

Morning! World War 92 last night. We survived! We had it all, circuit training, push ups, sit ups and all sorts of other things involving pushing your body to the limits! We suffered our first injury last night, Neil managed to pull a stomach muscle. As captains, Tom & Dan kept him motivated until he announced that he will be off next week. Man down!
Today on the show, we wondered that maybe Tom & Dan would be the only Blackberry users in the UAE come October because of the ban. Tom & Dan are roaming on a UK network, so will they be OK? If so, they have promised to continue to PIN each other, even whilst in the same room. More riders were added to ‘Tom & Dan’s Big Bike Bash 2010′ and we have more pillion places for you to win tomorrow. We found out that someone has attempted to convince people that he owned the Ritz hotel in London so that he could sell it. We enquired about price plans. Just one cheque sadly, 2 we could have managed but 250 million in one cheque? Just a little out of our budget.
The boys are with their personnel trainer this afternoon, Tom is worried after she caught in him the pub last night and she probably knows Dan had a pizza the other night. All the updates tomorrow from 6!

SUNDAY, 1st August 2010

Morning! Welcome to a new day, week and month! Hope you had a good weekend. Tom went to see new film Predators last night, and it was actually the first ever film he has fallen asleep to in a cinema. Not the best of films. Dan had a workout, and then a pizza. Good weekend all round.
This morning was busy. We had lots to get through but still found time to contemplate a swim across the Dubai Creek, after reading about the women who recorded the slowest time ever to swim the English channel. We asked what the kids of Dubai wanted to be when they grow up. Some really great answers and we sent Leo, who wants to be a cheese maker off to Kidzania for lots of fun! We listened to Dan roll out his best party trick, signing the rap in Rihanna’s Umbrella and we kept up to date with the Chelsea Clinton wedding with showbiz reporter Geraldine Cooper.

A little nap this afternoon before round 2 of World War 92! We’ll let you know how we get on tomorrow.

THURSDAY, 29th July

Weekend time! A packed out show this morning. Dan and I have never had so many people popping in and out of the show. Nick and Rachel Clayson were in to celebrate their AED 60,000 Dubai 92 Secret Sound with Marks & Spencer win! Well done to them!

We were also joined by our ‘Costa Friends Of The Week’ Erick and Courtney. We loved having everyone in, and we played a round of Tom Or Dan where we found out that Dan was lunched with none other than Celine Dion!
We amused ourselves with the story of a short man in China on Topical Tune Of The Day and Jay won a Stu Williamson photo shoot by suggesting ‘Yazz – The Only Way Is Up’. The 3 of us all had a nice chat about Oud Metha and the fruit shop near lamcy Plaza.

Helen from What’s On was in too, talking fitness and weekend plans. So, packed out we were! We also got a positive response to our dancing video, which you can see further down this blog.

We’re back on Sunday at 6! And get your leathers ready…..all explained next week!

WEDNESDAY, 28th July

Yesterday on the show, Tom was challenged by Scott and the gang at Diverse Choreography to prove that he’s really as good at dancing as he claims to be. He agreed, on the condition that Dan had to do it too.

So after the show, we headed off to the Fitness Beat studio in Tecom to put it to the test…

TUESDAY, 27th July

Morning! Have you heard? We added another 10,000 to the Secret Sound jackpot today. Neither of us could believe no one won it this morning, so to try and make people try that little bit harder, we have upped that money again! Good luck tomorrow. There is a clue on this website….worth a look.

We were both on Ant Watch today! Somehow ants managed to invade the studio. They were having fun in the keyboards, our headphones and took a real liking to the computer mouse’s. We soon put that to the back of our minds however, as our attention turned to a ‘Dance Off” which has been set up by Dan for later on this afternoon. Scott, who used to work with Kylie has challenged us to get involved with him and some little helpers and perform Kylie’s ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’. This has all come about after Tom consistently claims he is a good dancer, using the line ‘my foot work is pretty neat’ quite often.

We also learnt that Tom airbrushes himself in photos! Tom claiming that it has only happened recently because of a unfortunate outbreak in spots.

MONDAY, 26th July

Monday’s nearly over, then. Very exciting on the show this morning as The Secret Sound of Summer is getting ever closer to being guessed! Another 2.5k added, a jackpot of 50,000dhs and a new clue have been added. Check out the details from the homepage and make sure you SMS to have a guess in the morning! That’s a lot of money.

Hiya. Here were are then for week 3 of our Tom & Dan ‘just filling in on breakfast’ Breakfast Show blog.

Got some very exciting things coming up. Annoying not to say what they are, I know. But admit it, a little intrigue and suspense is a good thing, right?

Tonight, Team Tom & Dan and Team Nats is off to start World War 92. You can find out more about that from our homepage! But needless to say, wish us luck.

I’m (Dan) literally blogging this from my bed during my afternoon nap. Lucky boy aren’t i. Memory foam pillow and everything.

On the show this morning we learnt that Dan’s too scared to go on the Jumeirah Scarer. Tom gave us his review of new movie ‘Salt’. ‘Meh’. And we gave away a clue on the Secret Sound! Will the money (47,500dhs!!!!!!!) go in the morning? Do you know it?

WEDNESDAY, 21st July

Morning! Just finished the show for today…..Once again the Secret Sound did not go. So up to AED40,500 tomorrow.
This money is getting BIG! Dan and I had many tales to tell about our day yesterday, we dressed up as Batman and Robin and went to iFly at Mirdif City Center, you can see how we got on below by watching the video of our day.

Dan dropped Tom in it by giving away the fact that Tom likes to know what everyone earns….Tom thinks everyone secretly wants to know what everyone earns.

Dan upset Lucy by assuming she was Australian, she was a Kiwi. Tom didn’t help by then assuming she was from the south island, she was from the north island. Sorry Lucy.

We’re hoping to nap in a bit, because it is gym day! And that means going through a tough work out at FitnessBeat with our PT Karen, who likes to work the us hard. We have heard that today we have to walk up28 flights of stairs, just to warm up!

Will let you know how we managed tomorrow, plus Kate and her family will be in the studio as the Costa ‘family of the week’, the What’s On guys will be in to tell us what to do this weekend and we need YOU (if you’re a guy) for something rather demanding.

TUESDAY, 20th JULY

After the show today we thought we should go and check out iFly at Mirdif City Centre seeing as we’re giving prizes to go to it every day this week on the show.  It’s a vertical wind tunnel for indoor skydiving!

AND we heard that the first two people to go dressed as a superher during July get to go in free!

So we headed down to Mr.Ben’s costume shop on Diyafah Rd and got kitted out…

Batman. And Robin.

Then we headed off to the wind tunnel!….

Hi there. Another fun breakfast show for us today. We learnt that Tom orders Hardess whilst STILL on the treadmill. We learnt that Dan was offered anti-balding vitamins by the barber.

We recruited two more members for Team Tom & Dan on World War 92. The Secret Sound of Summer didn’t go, so rolls over to 36,500dhs tomorrow! The money’s getting properly serious now.

And we played ‘Win, Lose or Draw’ during some songs. If you have a whiteboard at work, you TOO could have this much fun…

Hiya. Back for our second week of ‘just filling in on breakfast’.

We both went to watch Inception last night at Ibn Batutta. Loved it. But we both got a little confused by it all. Dan has a theory that Leonardo DiCaprio says the phrase ‘wind up’ in every movie. Ok.

The Secret Sound of Summer didn’t go this morning and is rolling over by 2,000dhs every day, so tomorrow the jackpot stands at 34,500dhs! Good luck.

We had some fun arm-wrestling each other this morning…did Nats win?? Surely not.

THURSDAY, 15 JULY

What a busy show! It was a lot of fun, but felt like it was about ten hours long!

Firstly, the Secret Sound of Summer didn’t go. So that means it’s back on Sunday with a jackpot of 32,500dhs! And next week it rolls over 2,000dhs every day. Get. Guessing.

Our first set of guests in the studio were our ‘COSTA Family of the Week’ who won last week with Catboy & Geordiebird. Shame for them they came in when CB and GB were away! Haha. They also get 1000dhs at their local Costa. Lovely.

Next to go in front of our big wall logo, be badly lit and have their picture taken was Helen and Hugo from What’s On magazine. They were telling us what we should all be doing and where we should be going this weekend in the UAE.

TUESDAY, 13 JULY

Hiya. The Secret Sound of Summer didn’t go this morning. We add another 1,500dhs to the jackpot and play again tomorrow. It’s now 29,500dhs!! Good luck.

After a long day, a good work out, a big walk, a good dinner, for both of us, we STILL didn’t get much sleep. Any sleeping tips from anyone used to getting up early??

In Tom OR Dan today we learned that Tom doesn’t know the alphabet. Shocking. Dan had a Whitney Houston CD in his car when he gave Tom a lift the other day.  Again, shocking.

After the news that petrol prices are rising again in Dubai, we learned what ENOC and EPPCO actually stand for! Have you ever wondered?? Emirates National Oil Company and Emirate Petroleum Products COmpany. So there you go. Tell your friends.

The boys also played the ‘trust’ game live on air. Tom reckoned he touched the ground. Dan didn’t trust Tom enough to fall back properly. Check out the video here…

MONDAY, 12 JULY

Welcome to The Tom & Dan ‘Just Filling In On Breakfast’ Breakfast Show Blog.

Getting up at 4am is quite a big change for us seeing as we normally do the evening show on Dubai 92. And here we are on Day 2 of our stint covering for CBGB. Neither of us has managed the sleep thing, again.  We’ll get there. Good fun doing brekky though.

Today in ‘Tom OR Dan’ we learnt that Dan can’t throw. Embarrassing. We talked ’second’ jobs and Dan had an offer of a PA who would do ‘ANYTHING’. Interesting. He went with cooking and cleaning.

We also talked about the Alicafe advert on telly we keep seeing. What is the funny handwave?!! Andy reckoned that everyone in the ad has had a little too much caffeine…

The Secret Sound Of Summer didn’t go, so it rolls over to 28,000dhs tomorrow, get guessing!

And we’re off to be measured and put through our paces with Karen our personal trainer at FitnessBeat later. So we had a little sit up competition whilst on air in preparation. See the video below to find out who won. Wish us luck!
