SHOUT – THE OFFICIAL ENGLAND WORLD CUP SONG

It took me a couple of listens to get into this but the new, official, England song (brought together by Simon Cowell) is just fantastic! It’s a charity single, which is no bad thing either. More importantly than that, it has all the markings of a great World Cup anthem. Give it a couple of spins, see what you think.

Also, we were wondering if any other countries represented in the World Cup have their own songs. Haven’t heard any. Is it just an British thing, like fish & chips, Mini Coopers and Bonfire night? If you’re country as a song, let us know. We’ll give it a spin!

In the meantime, here’s Dizzie & Smithy on the final of Britain’s Got Talent…

And here’s a few more England classics from years gone by…

Lonnie Donnigan – World Cup Willy (1966)

Back Home (1970)…

Ole Ola! – Rod Stewart (Scotland 1978)…

New Order – World in Motion (1990)…

Del Amitri – Don’t Come Home Too Soon (1998 – Scotland)…

Baddiel, Skinner & The Lightning Seeds – Three Lions (1998)…

Fat Les – Vindaloo (1998)…

Ant n Dec – On the Ball (2002)…

When I mention Mini Coopers, I mean the ones which were in the original Italian Job, not those plastic-filled lumps of ugly that are roaming the streets underneath the backsides of estate agents these days.

    Hi,

    Mini’s no longer English. It’s German :(
And look what they did to the Mini with the Clubman!!!
