Plan B

26-year-old Benjamin Drew AKA Plan B is a UK-based rap artist. He released his highly controversial debut album Who Needs Actions When You Got Words in 2006 to critical acclaim. The album’s strong lyrical content covering themes of violence, drugs and alcohol certainly got him noticed. The very same year he came fourth in the BBC’s ‘Sound of 2006’ competition.

Plan B’s most recent offering The Defamation of Strickland Banks, his second studio album, was released in April this year. The London lad took a very different approach in this album, introducing a truly soulful sound and  relying more on his singing than rapping, though there are a few rap track too – and the change paid off as the album shot to number 1 on the UK album chart.

The Defamation of Strickland Banks tells the fictional story of Strickland Banks a British Soul singer who finds fame buthis life is then turned upside down when he’s accused of a crime he didn’t commit and ends up in jail.

Not content with just singing Plan B is also an actor and his latest album shares it’s title with Plan B’s first film, in which he acts and directs. The Defamation of Strickland Banks, the film, is set to be released later this year.
